Patrick Sullivan

Patrick Sullivan's deep connection with horses began when he was 26, marking a significant shift from his previous life. After earning his MBA in International Management, he left a successful career in collegiate soccer coaching to become a dedicated advocate and student for liberty horsemanship—a practice built entirely on communication and trust.

At the heart of Patrick’s work is the positive belief that Liberty transforms the relationship between horses and humans by always centering on the horse's best interests.

This philosophy is the cornerstone of the Equine Liberty Organization (ELO). ELO’s mission is to connect equestrians worldwide through the practice of Liberty Horsemanship, fostering a caring global community that supports both horses and people with top-level education and events.

To share this vision with those who need it most, Patrick founded the non-profit Gamilah Unbridled (501c3), providing liberty education to underprivileged youth and new beginnings for rescue horses.

His commitment to this unbridled relationship was powerfully demonstrated when he rode his Arabian horses, Gamilah and Haleem, over 2,500 miles bridleless and bareback across the country, raising significant awareness and funds for non-profits.

Patrick believes that liberty is the essential foundation of all horsemanship. He is dedicated to sharing the profound power of choice and connection, guiding others toward a deeper understanding of the equine spirit and the powerful partnership possible when trust leads the way.

Avery Sullivan

Avery fell in love with horses at just six years old during her very first riding lesson—an experience that instantly hooked her. Throughout her childhood she rode a wide variety of horses and competed across multiple disciplines, gaining a deep appreciation for versatility, communication, and true partnership.

In 2019, Avery discovered liberty horsemanship, a turning point that ignited a passion she has pursued wholeheartedly ever since. For her, there is something indescribable about connecting with a horse completely at liberty—no ropes, no tack, just trust. That passion ultimately led her to join the non-profit Gamilah Unbridled, where she now dedicates her time to helping more horses and humans experience that same profound connection.

Through her work with Gamilah Unbridled, Avery has contributed to several transformative projects, including:

  • The Rescue Horse Project: helping rehabilitate and transform seven of the toughest rescue horses in the country using only liberty-based methods.

  • The Extra Mile: developing some of the most challenging rescue horses into advanced liberty partners, culminating in their successful participation in four-horse liberty teams.

Avery is also a founding member of the Equine Liberty Organization, born from her desire to reimagine the traditional show atmosphere she grew up in. After years of being discouraged by a culture that often prioritized winning, expensive horses, or harsh methods, she dreams of building a competitive environment where horsemanship, connection, and horse welfare come first.
